KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 -- Two drug addicts who had robbed and sexually assaulted a woman in Brickfields, here, have been arrested by police.
Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the men, both 20, were arrested at 2.45am last Wednesday in the parking lot and a house at the Kerinchi People's Housing Project (PPR).
"They were believed to have been involved in 20 robbery and sexual assault cases in Brickfields. The arrest was made following a police report lodged by a female victim on Jan 25," he told reporters here today.
The 24-year-old woman had claimed that the suspects, who were on a Honda EX-5 motorcycle, had taken her mobile phone, gold bracelet, RM100 and sexually assaulted her.
He said further investigations revealed that the men were drug addicts who targeted women around Brickfields, involving losses estimated at RM25,000.
Wan Abdul Bari added that the police also confiscated a motorcycle which was reported stolen in Pantai, a watch, mobile phone, helmet, keys and knife used to threaten victims.
