KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 -- The police picked up 19 people, including three female customers, when they raided three internet cafes in Taman Pusat Kepong here last night in connection with computerised gaming.
Three of the men were the caretakers of the cafes while 13 others were customers, Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan told Bernama.
He said the police seized 52 computer video gaming machines and RM800 in the raid that started at 10.30pm and ended at 12.50am.
"Most of the customers, aged between 18 and 60, were hooked on the 'Online Rolex Casino' and the 'Computer Chip' games and placed a minimum bet of RM1," he said, adding that the cafes were raided for similar offence three months ago.
He said the cafes' caretakers and customers had been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
Zakaria said Sentul police headed by Chief Inspector Dean Jonathan conducted 125 raids under 'Ops Dadu' in January and arrested 54 people and seized 400 computer gaming machines.
