Eliminate discrimination against women at the work place
KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 -- More efforts are needed to eliminate prejudices and discrimination against women at the work place to encourage more women to participate in the labour market.
Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said the implementation of policies that were gender sensitive must be adopted by all organisations including the provision of facilities such as child nurseries.
"The government has provided incentives to encourage employers to provide such facilities, yet many have still not done so.
"All sectors must understand that creating a positive environment that is gender-friendly is important in efforts to raise human capital in the country," she said when closing the Internatioal Women's Day, here today.
Gender equality in employment also represented an important agenda in government efforts to become a developed nation based on balanced development, she added.
