Couple arrested for housebreaking cases in Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 -- Police believe they will be able solve more than 20 cases of housebreaking in the Klang Valley following the arrest of a couple here yesterday.

Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said today the 37-year-old man and his 28-year-old woman companion were picked up at their rented house in Taman Cheras Utama at 3.30pm.

Police found 107 stolen items valued at RM200,000 at the house, among them credit cards, LCD television sets, handphones, cameras and laptop computers, he said.

Investigation showed that the couple had been engaged in the housebreaking activity since October last year and that their most recent offence was breaking into condominium of an engineer in Jalan Kuchai Lama two days ago.

Wan Abdul Bari said the man had two previous criminal records for a drug offence and theft and had tested positive for drugs after he was caught.

He said both of them were under remand until tomorrow.
